Pretty in Pink

A few weeks ago a wonderful client and friend introduced me to the IIIB’s Foundation Keep the Candle Glowing ( www.keepthecandleglowing.org), a fabulous breast cancer support foundation. Carolyn, the founder, is a breast cancer survivor and is now the proud owner of an amazing organization that provides Bosom Buddy Baskets to women fighting this terrible disease. Please check out her site for all of the details. The second annual Pink Tie event is coming up on 2.11.12 and is in support of the IIIB Foundation. Chris and I, along with my parents, will be attending the Pink Tie event and are very excited to support such an amazing lady and a great cause. I wanted to donate something very special to the silent auction. Here is what I came up with:

This sexy ribbon back accent chair finished in Benjamin Moore's 'pink ribbon'. LOVE!

The fabric will be a sleek faux animal print in an ecru color to go with any decor!

It is perfect, right? I am very excited for the lucky winner. But mostly I am looking forward to supporting Carolyn and her cause and learning more about how I can support her and her efforts. Thank you Michelle for introducing me to the IIIB Foundation!

Weekend Project!

I have always wanted a photo gallery wall in our new home and it has finally happened! I have been thinking and planning this wall for quite sometime now and I must say that I absolutely LOVE the way it turned out! Thank you to Troy for all of your amazingly precise measuring skills!

The very plain before

I started with the decal placement. (These are fabulous by the way!)

And the fabulous after! Our family room feels so much more cozy and complete!

The best part? I get to stare at the amazing pictures of my beautiful girls!

I need to give a huge THANK YOU to Michelle Troxell of Grace Thomas Photography-www.gracethomasphotography.com-for all of her incredible talent in capturing such beautiful memories of our girls. Check out her website as she is truly amazing!

Have you always wanted to display your family photos in a gallery wall arrangement? Call me to help you with the spacing and placement as it can be a bit overwhelming. And I learned that the frames do not have to be too detailed or expensive, especially if you have a lot of them:) Let the photos stand out, not necessarily the frames.

Thank you!

I must say that I feel so lucky to do what I do everyday. The world of interior decorating is a custom realm full of hand selected and hand crafted items that make for beautiful end results. I get to bring to life the wants and needs of my clients and help them create their dream home. Each project is unique yet each project provides satisfaction to everyone involved. The most joy that I get is from a happy client after an installation. Here is what Jessica had to say after her Master Bedroom draperies were installed and her chair was delivered:

Lauren,

We are loving all of our new items.  The house is really coming together thanks to your team!

Everything looks awesome.  I love the drapery hardware! Thanks for everything.  Can’t wait for the next project!

Jessica's sleek bedroom accent chair. I love the curved back!

Jessica's warm window treatment fabric that was used for sleek side panels on metal poles with crystal finials.

Check back for pictures of this beautiful finished product! It just warms my soul when I read the kind words of my happy clients.

Installation Day!

It was a beautiful day for a delivery! Larry, my wallpaper installer, was in a tee shirt in January! The Decorating Den van was packed full!

Britta and I working hard!

Now my clients have a great looking AND durable rug for their eat in space. It is custom sized to fit their space with a hint of black in the border to pull in the chairs. The valances should be installed in a couple of weeks. They will be the finishing touch to this space.

Griffin had to give his new rug the sit test. He approved! He was quite involved all afternoon, making sure we placed everything perfectly!

Thank you Mark and Aleks for a great partial delivery for phase 1, it was a fun afternoon. Very excited for all of your window treatments to arrive soon! Here we are working on phase II. More great projects to come, stay tuned!

Pinning Mania!

I usually tend to be behind the times when it comes to technology….it requires the use of that other side of my brain….but I am now caught up! If anyone has not joined the Pinterest craze, do so now! What a great tool for all of us who love design, fashion and style trends in general. There are such clever ideas out there and this is such an amazing way to share them. You can pin a board that shows your favorite kitchens or a board that displays your inspiration for your child’s first birthday party. And so much more! It is a great way to get inspired and educated at the same time. And for me, I am loving sharing my work! It is such an amazing feeling to see people ‘liking’ and ‘repinning’ my rooms and design projects. Thank you all for your support and to those who have not started yet….let the pinning begin!

Dream Room Contest

Finley's board in progress

Campbell's board in progress

Every year, Decorating Den holds our national Dream Room contest. This is such an exciting event for all who participate. We take our professionally photographed rooms and enter them in the contest to be judged by the editors of the major shelter magazines such as Traditional Home, Better Homes and Gardens, etc. We put together the design board that showcases the amazing room makeover as well as including the story of the transformation.  Every project has an origin and a reason so it is always fun to hear about how a room has evolved and how it has enriched the lives of the homeowner.

This year, I am entering 6 boards and am so excited about each of them! I have my two daughter’s room in the Children’s Room category, an Outdoor Space entry, a Dining Room entry, a Miscellaneous (sitting room) entry and I am entering Campbell’s adorable draperies in the Window Treatment category. Entering the boards is always a lot of hard work but the results can be so rewarding! The winners are announced at our annual conference in May. Here are a few pictures of my accomplishments from the 2011 contest:

Discussing the amazing transformation

It was a great day for Lauren Nicole Designs!

Stay tuned for this year’s results!
